The School of Medicine has established a process to identify all undergraduates doing research in SOM and a committee to review requests to return Emory College of Arts and Sciences and Georgia Tech undergraduates to SOM labs on a case-by-case basis. All undergraduates must be approved through this process for Spring, regardless of current status.
Criteria
An Emory undergraduate student registered for Emory Course: XXXX 495A/B (Honors Research for Credit), XXXX 399R or 499R (Research for Credit), or involved in the IMSD or SIRE undergraduate research programs, or a Georgia Tech undergraduate student registered for Georgia Tech Course: XXXX4699 (with XXXX as the department) may be allowed to return to or join an SOM lab if the following criteria are applicable:
How to request approval to return to SOM labs
Submit to the committee using this request form: https://is.gd/undergradsinSOMlabsSpring
Submission deadline
Tuesday, November 17, 2020
Process
SOM will review submitted surveys and send recommendations to ECAS and Georgia Tech. ECAS or Georgia Tech will contact students with determinations. ECAS students will need to comply with the university’s return to campus guidance. Georgia Tech students will need to comply with the requirements in Emory's visitor policy/process, which include an application to be submitted by the sponsor. In both cases, these steps will need to be completed prior to the student returning to Emory’s campus and the SOM lab.
