Hi everyone! I'm Umnia and I'm a first year in the Global Epidemiology (GLEPI) Department. I am Sudanese-American and was born and raised in Ames, Iowa. My research interests include infectious disease, outbreak response, and vaccine-preventable diseases/immunization programs. I'm excited for the semester with GPHA - we have a lot in store for you!

Paige Gabriel - Co-President

Hey everyone! My name is Paige Gabriel and I am a 1st year Health Policy and Management (HPM) student. My hometown is Raleigh, NC. My research interests include: Mental Health, Social Determinants of Health, Health Equity. My responsibilities as Co-President include ensuring that GPHA activities meet university policies, provide direction in achieving the organizations goals and mission, and act as a point of contact for the organization!

Oluwateniola (Teniola) Ayeni - Professional Liaison

My name is Oluwateniola Ayeni but I also go by Teniola. I am a first year Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences (BSHES) student here at Rollins. Originally from Nigeria, I moved to Baltimore, MD with my family in 2002 and have lived there until moving to Atlanta in August 2019. I am interested in public health consulting, learning more about culture, identity and immigrant health. Currently as the Professional Liaison, I represent GPHA and its members to any professional associations such as the American Public Health Association and the Georgia Public Health Association (State). Please reach out to me if you have any professional associations that GPHA can partner with. I look forward to planning some great events with GPHA!

Apoorva Kommajosula - VP of Internal Affairs

Hi everyone! My name is Apoorva Kommajosula and I am a first year Global Epidemiology (GLEPI) student at Rollins. I am from Johns Creek, GA and went to the University of Georgia for undergrad (Go Dawgs!), so I've basically lived in GA most of my life! My research interests include social & spatial epidemiology, health disparities, community health, and implementation science. I am also pursuing a certificate in WASH during my time here at Rollins. For GPHA, I am in charge of overseeing the logistics for GPHA-led events as well as maintaining correspondence with the general membership of the organization. Looking forward to holding some amazing public-health related events this year through GPHA!

Laura Hefner - VP of Finance

I’m Laura, and I’m a first-year MPH student in the Department of Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences (BSHES) from Lincolnshire, Illinois. My research interests lie in access to health care, nutrition, and mental health. As the Vice President of Finance, my main responsibilities including overseeing and managing our budget as well as processing any reimbursements related to our events. I’m looking forward to working with you all over the next year to promote the public and personal health of Georgia’s citizens. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Hi everyone! My name is Shreya Tailor and I’m a first year MPH student in the Epidemiology (EPI) Department! I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and came straight to Rollins after completing my undergraduate program. I graduated with a Bachelors of Health Promotion with an Emphasis in Health Services from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!)! My main interests in public health include the intersection of chronic diseases, oral health and hygiene access. As VP of Communications, I am in charge of reaching out to other organizations to establish new events and also sharing these events with the Emory community!
