We firmly believe health professionals (including clinical and administrative staff) must maintain their well-being in order to be effective caregivers and so we are committed to providing the tools, resources, and culture that enhances your well-being. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there is no single definition of well-being, but there is general agreement that at a minimum, well-being includes the presence of positive emotions and moods.
To start, a department-level Wellness Committee has been organized to achieve the following: 1) develop a definition of well-being that fits the Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences; 2) develop a plan to create a culture of wellness across the department; 3) conduct an assessment of the current state of well-being among faculty and staff to establish a baseline, set targets/goals for improving and enhancing personal well-being, and measure progress. The committee may partner with the Emory University School of Medicine (SOM), Emory Healthcare, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), and other units to leverage existing resources and ongoing wellness activities to help with this work.
