Purpose
The division of Event Medicine is to help Emergency Medicine residents learn how to fulfill the role of an EM physician during mass gatherings or events, all the while collaborating and building collegiality with a multidisciplinary group of medical and non-medical professionals.
Practical Goals

- Work alongside EMS at a variety of events, stadiums, and venues such as Mercedes Benz, State Farm Arena, and other concert halls in and around the city.
- Provide Emergency Medicine support alongside EM faculty & EMS for a variety of events across Atlanta and Georgia including:
- Professional sporting events
- College sporting events
- Local marathon and other races
- Greater Atlanta Area food and music festivals
Goals & Benefits

- Meet approximately every 4-6 weeks to discuss mass casualty and disaster prevention, pre-hospital care, planning, execution, and post-event review of medical care provided during any mass gathering, SWAT, etc.
- An interest group, volunteer-based
- Triple I Credit available
- Once a resident participates in 3 events, he/she will be rewarded with an Emory Event Medicine polo and the opportunity to participate in leadership positions. (Funding to be determined)
Educational Goals

- Knowledge of EM principals with the application in the pre-hospital setting
- Attend EMS/Event Medicine conferences
- Bolster relationships amongst residents and faculty
- Create a pathway for professional leadership within the group (open to all residents and faculty)
- Collaborate with other medical specialties at events
- Certification of Event Medicine
- Build curriculum vitae for applications to Fellowships
- ACEP section of Event Medicine, AAEM
Long-term goals

- Establish this group as a pillar of our program in education and practical application of EMS
- Create opportunities for physicians interested in event medicine to meet, interact, and network on a larger scale
- Take part in international & domestic Life- Flights
- Combat rescue and sports
- Traveling appointments for winter and surf sports
