Why Emory EM?
Ever since attending Emory as an undergraduate student, I knew I wanted to train at Emory. I wanted to serve the medically underserved patients in a large city. Even more, I wanted to work alongside residents and train with physicians who worked not only in the hospital to help reduce health disparities, but made it their mission to positively enhance the lives of their community. Emory serves through the hospital and also through many other avenues outside of the hospital doors. Emory also trains a diverse group of physicians who are fully determined to care for the diverse set of patients that they interact with.
Interests in EM?
- Global/international medicine
- Social emergency medicine which focuses on the social determinants of health
5-year plan
After finishing residency, I hope to complete a fellowship in international medicine to allow access to serving in a sustainable way overseas, particularly in Haiti
What would you be doing if you weren't in Emergency Medicine?
I would be finding a way to make it to the world of EM. Or maybe be a teacher. Or FBI agent.
Fun fact
I still hold my 100M dash high school record. I have more than 11 siblings--Love my family! I am petrified of all animals especially dogs (PTSD from multiple chases). My love of gardening I obtained from my Caribbean roots (Haiti!). I dislike chocolate (milk and dark), but I love, love, love desserts--my favorite bakery is Piece of Cake based in Atlanta!
What would your superpower be?
Being able to heal with one touch
