To: All SOM faculty and staff
Thank you to our department leaders and PIs who have worked diligently and quickly to prepare for a monitored return of on-campus research activity. Your participation in this information-gathering effort has been critically important in helping to establish the infrastructure and operations to support a safe return to campus. School of Medicine leaders have reviewed all department-approved plans. Following the University’s update yesterday, we write now to provide you with an update on next steps in the expansion of critical and essential research in the School of Medicine.
Current process and next steps
- As plans are approved by SOM leadership, the names of all approved PIs and staff are sent to the Office of the Provost for consideration.
- Following approval by the Office of the Provost, all approved faculty and staff will receive an email containing the link to the required return-to-work tasks outlined in Tuesday’s communication. Note that this link will go directly to individual faculty and staff as they/their labs are approved to return to campus.
- These links may not be shared among faculty. Those who have not received a link must wait for an official email directly from HR Communications.
- Review the Return to Work Guidelines.
- After you have completed all required tasks for return to work, you and your supervisor will receive an email stating that you have completed all University requirements.
- Final approval emails will be sent by SOM leadership. The first day on which faculty and staff will be approved to return to campus is still to be determined, but is no earlier than June 1.
Keep in mind that this is a phased return to on-campus activity and we anticipate that, in partnership with our SOM departments and university partners, ongoing review and approval will continue in the coming weeks.
Whether you are already performing critical and essential research on campus, planning to return in June, or continuing to work remotely, thank you for your continued commitment to our students, our patients and each other.
